I really enjoyed this. I have Dunlop's Hunan cookery book (The Revolutionary Chinese Cookbook) and after reading this, I'm hunting down the Szechuan one as well.
A fascinating look at another culture. And I've been craving good Chinese now for days.

I read this on a recommendation and thoroughly, thoroughly enjoyed it.
It's a wonderful retelling - although you know what is to come, you still turn every page with anticipation. The love in this book, in every form, is beautifully realised The descriptive prose is stunning, and the characters are well fleshed out.
