Williams' theories about poetry seem to me a lot like the theories of John Ashbery. Maybe that's because lately I've been reading the poems in "Self-Portrait in a Convex Mirror" and "Three Poems" not to mention interviews, book reviews, etc. But, if you take the word "images" from Williams' discourse and substitute "thoughts", you have something very close to what Ashbery is about in his poetry. And hey look how each of them continue(d) to try new things in their poetry throughout their careers.

Postman forcefully presents his philosophical views as to how education may be improved. Equating narratives with gods, Postman suggests narratives with which students and teachers may find greater purpose in schooling.

I tried to read this years ago but didn't get far. Written by two philosophers - husband and wife Jacques and Raissa Maritain. Reading it again this summer and finding much more hope in it than in, for instance, Harold Bloom's "Anxiety of Influence".

I'm so glad I found this book! Kenneth Clark presents here profound insights into Rembrandt's work without hard-to-understand jargon or other high-falootin' language. Five sections of the book consist of: self-portraits, "the rebel", "the success", "the withdrawal" and "Rembrandt and the Bible". Already I am speculating that Rembrandt's work was greatly enhanced by his examination of himself for his self-portraits. And the book has also inspired me to look at the work of Raphael who Rembrandt is reported to have studied closely.
