Enjoyed reading it. Well research and clear about the limitations of the data and conclussions. Another study on how irrational we are about risk calculation.
Nice detour from the assumption that economic agents are perfectly rational. Although some of the experiments are not as clean cut as I would expect, the conclussions ring true and the limitations are indicated.

I will reread it.

Brilliant book that mixes drama, society criticism and comedy in the presentation in a very non-linear way of the events surrounding the fictitious savolta company in the first quarter of the twentieth century. I have to wonder if the Cohen brothers ever read something like this at the beginning of their careers, since a lot of the topics in their films can be reflected in Mendoza's style.

Interesting take on the events of may 2nd, 1808, when Madrid revolted against french troops. Honest look at the different people that participated in the events, appreciating that there were good persons in both sides, and also cruel, ignorant and fanatic people on both sides. I am curious now about the book on the same events by Perez Galdos.
Not worth the time. Conventional re-spin of classic vampire topics. Only the procedure of infection is novel, and in this case, fairly predictable. It looked like it started as a screen play, and character development fits more a 90min movie with 80% action scenes than a book.

Although at the beginning I thought that it was more whine than wise, I come to believe that it is a very thoughtful presentation in the face of outrageous reality. When most media do not let a fact to get in the way of a good headline, the best path is to think, smile and try to work for the best.
