I picked this one at random off the shelf, and it was a nice surprise. The whole book is a collection of letters and other writings from the main character, which is the sort of writing style that's easy to do badly. I thought it worked well, though. The main character is a landlord and literary magazine editor. Most of his letters are to his tenants, his ex-wife and contributors to the magazine. A fun character study that's easy to read.

I really liked the writing style, but the "shock" stuff got old. By about the third "surprise" drag queen, the gender-bending stuff was boring.
