Australian Bush Survival Skills by Kevin Casey
A good and no nonsense approach to surviving in the bush. Those traveling to to the outback should keep a copy close at hand.

The Nibelungenlied by Anonymous
Quite good but seriously, the amount of people who die is staggering and even shakespeare looks restrained with his body counts by comparison.
Rebecca rated a book 4 of 5 stars
Wild Swans by Jung Chang
A truly magnificent work of non-fiction. Wild Swans tells the true story of 3 generations of women growing up in an ever changing China. The book begins with the author's grandmother who became the concubines of a warlord while still a teenager and t...more

Pompeii by Robert Harris
Could not for the life of me get into it. Felt that it was rather 2 dimensional and slow paced. Characters were stereotypical and occassionally lifeless.

Trickster's Choice by Tamora Pierce
Decent but the totally self assured manner of the 16 year old protagonist is a bit off putting; character development is hard when you have a master spy/thief as a starting point. However this book is as solidly good as your average Tamora Pierce boo...more

Merle's Kitchen by Merle Parrish
Simple but lovely recipes, with a nice section of sponge cakes and biscuits.

The Accidental Vegetarian by Simon Rimmer
A really quite decent Vegetarian cookbook, particularly as Rimmer creates dishes which are more than just simple vegetable stir fries, he creates recipes that even carnivors begin to salivate over while reading.
