Hello, Colleen! I'm happy to meet another book addict who loves fantasy and literary fiction as much as I do. I see you gave a high rating to "The Hours." I just loved that novel (and the movie too)! I am a big fan of Virginia Woolf's novels, and I thought it was masterful how the author captured Woolf's style of writing in "The Hours," as well as using her novel as the theme to tie all those women's stories and lives together. Just a wonderful!
Have you read "Wintering" by Kate Moses? You might really enjoy that one too. It's a novel about the last year of Sylvia Plath's life. Moses names each chapter after one of the poems in her famous poetry book "Ariel," the one she was writing when she committed suicide. Moses's writing is extraordinary, very poetic, and perfect for this novel. One of my favorite books, and one I have read over and over again, because it is so beautifully written. It's also a very positive book. Plath was actually looking forward to her life, but they think the meds her doctor gave her at that time were too intense and suddenly pushed her over the edge. Very sad. But the novel is truly a positive, feminist tribute to her life and work.
Happy reading and magickal blessings!
