This book was a good read, but I am looking forward to reading Team of Rivals. I need something "serious" to read. I really think my reading is becoming "reading lite," not to mention that I am reading less; not a very savy reader lately. ]]>
I can't believe I forgot to review this book! It is a "can't put it down" experience. Many books are based on a "secret" that destroys, or seeks to destroy the characters. Jennifer McMahon does it seamlessly and creates tension and suspense on every page. ]]>
I love Maeve Binchey and this book has that same "feel." It is filled with endearing characters, something we don't always find in recent novels, and life in an Irish village is always a charmer for me. I look forward to other books by this author! ]]>

What fun it was to read this book! April Epler's adoptive parents were Holocaust survivors, serious, sometimes sad people with German accents, but they loved her and gave her a good home. After their death, she meets Bernice, her flamboyant talk show host birth mother, and later her real father, who was not, as her mother originally told her, JFK! The dialogue in this book is so well written, it makes you laugh out loud. As a former teacher, the scenes at school were just priceless.
This is a book about love and acceptance and happiness. I saw the movie and it is little like the book, except for Bette Midler as the birth mother. If you love Bett as I do, you will love Bernice; they are the same persona. I have to see if I can find another book by Elinor Lipman. I loved this one. ]]>
I am reading three very different books at the same time and I am loving it. I read the Confessions of a Jane Austen Addict and it was great, and so far this one is the same, fast moving and charming. It makes me love even more; all things Austen. ]]>
