Always fun to read this series. Anderson has done a good job of taking a quirky idea and expanding it into an epic story much like WWII. It's not quite as big, but he is keeping it fresh with new elements always being added.

Great fun. Not as funny as a Dortmunder, but pretty close. A nice change of pace. This is the kind of story that would have translated well into a movie.

Just started this yesterday, nearly 60% through, and I'm not sure what to think. Mr. Koontz has really pulled out all the stops, which makes me wonder how it can ever have a decent ending. Maybe he'll surprise me. I should have learned by now to t...more

It took me forever to read this. I just couldn't get excited about any of it. The details and setting make for what should be a fun adventure, but it just dragged.

“Fantasy is escapist, and that is its glory. If a soldier is imprisioned by the enemy, don't we consider it his duty to escape?. . .If we value the freedom of mind and soul, if we're partisans of liberty, then it's our plain duty to escape, and to take as many people with us as we can!”
