I devoured this book like someone lost without food for days. It was refreshing to hear Karr's voice once again. She's always been my favorite memoirist, and one of my favorite writers, because of her vivid imagery, humor and honesty even when discussing horrifying life subjects.

Lit takes place nine years after Cherry left off, and describes her early married life, as she struggled with motherhood and alcoholism.For someone who swears as easily as she walks or breathes, she still manages to conjure the most incredible images to draw you along through her personal struggles and continuous dysfunction.

The biggest surprise of the work is her eventual acceptance of God and religion in her life, which she fought against for some time.
