This is my second book by Sedaris, "Holiday on Ice," being the first one. "Holiday," was filled with genius, and long, boring gaps that were boring as the place down below. "Engulfed," does not have those long boring, filler chapters; I can't remember a bad chapter in this book. As a writer myself, Sedaris often made me see the obvious, and say, "Now why didn't I see and say that." This is a very humorous book; it is also a quick read. The chapter that I found the most entertaining was the one where Augusten wakes up from a blackout to find himself in bed with Santa: an old Santa, a wrinkled Santa, a Santa who could remember what the two of them had done the night before, where Augusten couldn't.
