The fun parts of this book are the devastatingly grisly fairy tales. A Huntresses that separates children's heads from their bodies and places them on the bodies of wild animals in order to hunt them. The repayment of funds to the stingy miser by forcing his mouth open and pouring molten liquid gold down into his stomach as his throat liquefies and smolders. But there's the rest of the book with altered traditional fairy tales of the zoophilic Red Riding Hood and Goldilocks + 3 Bears which are weaker. The chapters following the hard working, left leaning 7 dwarfs and the fat slob Snow white was the low point.
Basically the story is about a crooked man being in charge of fairly tales and the land in which fairy tales live. David, the main character, a human from England circa WW2 , gets first hand involvement with the fairy tales by falling through a portal and makes some BFFs while killing baddies.
