I have never read an Armand Gamache mystery series book before, or a Louise Penny book of any kind, but after reading this book they will both be on my to read lists in the very near future.

It was a book about friendships and the betrayal of that emotion. After a body is found in the Bistro of a friend in Three pines, Gamache and his team set out investigating the murder knowing that it may well be one of his friends that is the muderer.

The characters are developed in depth so that as you are reading you are getting to know them well below the surface. As you are getting to know them, you get to go along for the ride of solving the murder.

Always looked forward to being able to pick up the book and read more, and hated to put the book down. An excellent book that is easy to read, enjoyed it immensely.

Dunny Pollock was born with an extra finger, but it didn't take long to realize that it was a divining rod to find what her mind was focusing on. A gifted curse if ever there was one.

She tries extremely hard to keep the gift a secret, as it doesn't allow her to lead a "normal" life. Eventually there comes a time (when her sister calls for her to help look for a couple lost children) where she has to reveal her secret for the sake of helping others.

As I read I found myself drawn in and interested to all the events that transpire after getting to know the characters more. It became a book I didn't want to set down. Well done Deborah Leblanc, I will read more of your work.
