I thought this book had some very complex issues. I would not recomend it to kids under the 7th grade. I believe they could read it without difficulty, but the subject matter is deep.

What a great book for black history month. Although it is fictional it sets the tone of black and white relationships in the early 60's. A young girl struggles to find the inner strength needed to stand up to her family on many different levels.

An eye opening book on bullying and it's effects. A little hard to read at times, but the hopeful ending leaves the reader not quite so unsettled. This book was written almost like a play script, with the writer noting who was speaking each line.
