Although written by H.H. Dalai Lama, this is intended for a secular audience. You do not have to be Buddhist to understand or appreciate his points. Most are universal anyway :) Although, during our discussion groups, we do find that a bit of buddhist undertanding does help better express some particular viewpoints that are discussed in the book.

Each chapter welcomes dynamic,thoughtful, hearty discussion within the group setting (we also used the Foundation's Los Altos group accompanying study guide they provided). We find this book to be a great unifier--no matter the backgrounds each of us came with, we all could appreciate and respectfully discuss the topics presented--even when there was disagreement.

I highly recommend this timeless, significant read!!
