I wanted the tiger to eat Pi. The only reason I finished the book was because I was in at a cottage by myself and there wasn't anything else to read. I know what you are talking about, Josh. After reading Carver he seemed to give me permission to write a first person story. I wrote the whole story in one day. It was an incredible liberating feeling. I did do editing later but it holds up as a wonderful, bittersweet story.
