I normally really enjoy Margaret Atwood, but I'm not liking this book. A bunch of short "stories" (though most seems more like essays) that are written like abstract metaphors for something else. Awesome book. AWESOME. Didn't realize it was a collection of short stories when I bought it. The only thing the title story has in common with the movie is the title and the name of the main character... why does Hollywood do that?? Once you get used the way the book is written (hint: even worse than Singaporean English), this is a really fun read. I'm morbidly curious to see what it would look like as a movie; there are scenes that are extremely graphic, yet if done right could be hilarious.
