Good book, looking forward to rest of the series. Stilted dialogue and story telling, complex evil plot and villain that sort of felt glossed over in the final details of what the ultimate plan was, and how it was resolved left me a little wanting. I understand that the 4 central characters are unique children, but the fact that they spoke in such a formal manner (see above note re "stilted") made them hard to embrace. I LIKED them and how their individualities played out to resolve the conflict. Some of the action sequences, however, really picked up the pace nicely which helped move the story along. If I could give 1/2 stars, I would - this definitely fell between liked and really liked for me, sort of liked it more than most, but don't feel the need to read it again for any reason. ]]>
