Melissa's Review: At only twenty-three pages, Chosen by Angela Daniels is a short read. However, the length did not take away the intensity of this unique story. I really enjoyed the glimpse I got of Angela Daniels’ vampire world. I can only say that I did not get nearly enough of this story, or of the characters.

Shauna has a unique talent, one that most humans don’t have. I was intrigued by her special skill and the trip I was taken on when she used her talent a few times. Of course, I can’t tell you what it was, I can only say that you must pick up a copy of Chosen and find out for yourself!

Click here to read the rest of my review on Dark Diva Reviews.

Melissa's Review: I was first intrigued by the blurb for Halloween Romance by Donaya Haymond. Then I thought, hey, it's October, the perfect time to read this book!

I found Halloween Romance to be different, but refreshing in a lot of ways. First, the characters are normal, everyday college students. They aren't gorgeous alpha males and beautiful ladies. Instead, they look and act as anyone else does. I am not saying that I don't enjoy those alpha hunks or that I don't dream of being one of the beautiful women that manage to snag them, but I am saying that Halloween Romance was a nice change of pace.

Click here to read the rest of my review on Dark Diva Reviews.

Melissa's Review: Personal Demons by James Buchanan took me on quite a ride. James created a very realistic and complex plot with likeable characters. I love a good mystery, and am intrigued by other religions and psychics, so Personal Demons was right up my alley.

I enjoyed getting to know Chase and found myself worrying about him. He seemed to generally go with the flow and accepted things as they came his way. However, he is seriously haunted by a few personal demons, and has genuine problems that caused my concern for Chase to grow. James Buchanan did an excellent job of illustrating Chase’s demons and how he deals with them, even though he may have developed some bad coping habits.

Click here to read the rest of my review on Dark Diva Reviews.

My Review: More Than Robotics by Lynn Crain is the second book in the Orchard Series. I didn’t read the first book in the series, but I didn’t feel as if I was dropped into the middle of a story with no background information. Lynn has created a complex futuristic world, so there was a bit of confusion until I got into the flow of things, but she provided a nice glossary at the beginning of the book which definitely helped.

Bekka is an amazing woman. She is so strong, but her job as Captain requires that of her. Below that tough exterior lies a woman who just wants to be loved and understood. She has a few secrets, which she has never shared with anyone, because she is sure that no one would ever accept or look her at the same way again. Javed is the perfect match for her in all ways.

More Than Robotics is written from Bekka’s point of view, so I didn’t feel as though I got to know Javed as well as I did her. However, I did find him to be a likeable and very strong character, and perfect for the job he was sent to do.

Carl’s Story may be a BDSM story, but it is so much more than that. It is about Sylvie’s self-esteem issues and her husband’s, Carl, love and willingness to do anything to prove to her that she is as beautiful now as she was the day they met.
This book is very short, but it is loaded with tender emotions and searing passion. I was touched by the obvious love and lust that Sylvie and Carl share, even after years of marriage and three kids. Carl’s need to see his wife happy, not only in their relationship, but with herself and her body was even more touching and meaningful. He agrees to do something that he would not normally do, just to give Sylvie the chance at regaining her self-confidence.
Because of my own self-esteem issues, this book will stick with me for a very long time.
Even better is her ability to bring to life powerful characters that hold you captive until the very end. The emotion is as real and deep as the danger at every turn.

Karen Wiesner is a talented writer who pulls you in on the first page. I could feel every emotion her characters experienced as my own. The plot, being so complex and fast paced, can leave your head spinning, but if you give it time, everything pulls together at some point. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series and can only hope that I get to see Kirsten and Ash again, because I am not at all happy with the way they have been forced to leave things between them.

I believe that this book is Nicole Barker’s first published work, and I know that I will be searching out more work from this talented author. She painted a very realistic story, with memorable characters. Although this is a young adult book, any woman should be able to relate to this touching and very real story about the problems that our children face today. With it being a short 170 pages, it is a quick read, and one that you will not soon forget.
