I'm going on to read these after CHAPTERHOUSE. Not sure how long I'll go with them -- their style is just as dense and not as fluid as Herbert pere. At least, that's how it was in HOUSE ATREIDES. ]]>
The Bene Gesserit sisterhood have waited for more than a millennium for a girl who could talk to the great god-worms of Dune. In the meantime, they keep trying to train a Duncan Idaho revenant for service on Dune, and each of their Idaho gholas is murdered. In HERETICS, they have finally found their worm communicator, and during that same time period they have managed to keep alive a Duncan Idaho. Then all hell breaks loose, propelled by the Honored Matres, wild women from the frontiers. The Honored Matres don't care who they have to go through to kill Duncan.
Except for Duncan, this is a totally new cast of characters. Several are Atreides descendants, in fact the Bashar Teg is nearly the image of Leto I. Herbert uses their ancestries to tie us into his new era. The cliffhangers in HERETICS provide the impetus to move us immediately on to CHAPTERHOUSE: DUNE. ]]>
I agree, thanks for the invitation, Susan H. I'm being reminded of several good books here, but I can't revisit them yet because I recently moved and most of my books aren't findable.
Let me recommend the best book about Richard III that I know of. It's a well-written biography written by Paul Kendall, a decendant of Richard secretary Kendall (John, I think). Author Kendall also wrote an insightful biography of Louis XI of France, Richard's enemy. He put years into each book. ]]>

I have the McMillan 1st editions for this trio, Roberta, so I'm afraid I'm no help. I picked up several reprints of earlier books at the same time (when these 3 came out), but they are packed for the move so I can't check them to make sure they also came from McMillan.
For others I have depended on secondhand sellers. Every time I think I have found MY FRIEND FLORA, it's been sold by the time my order reaches the seller.
Very few people let these books out of their hands, it seems. They are hard to find secondhand. ]]>
