actually i did-and got into the 200s, but that was in april--bad bad timing. i'm going to go back to the savage detectives again, but i think first i'll read some more of his shorter works. i definitely in amulet see the appeal of bolano--very easygoing, pretty, meandering prose; space rather than plot organizes happenings; an unreliable narrator with romantic sensibilities having semi-hallucinations; time treated as fluid. and after reading a bit of garcia-marquez recently (part of memories of my melancholy whores), where there's basically an introspective old man worrying at his body, i was so glad to read bolano--more gossipy than introspective; lots of people doing lots of things. i'll let you know how the other shorties are : ) ]]> http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/75946042 to: The Romance of Happy Workers (Paperback) by Anne Boyer
