Zach proves his love to Lucy in many ways. I agree with bj in many aspects. From the beginning Zach was undeniably in love with Lucy and would not allow the circumstances of her situation get in his way. He blurts out "I love you" as if it were the easiest thing in the world to say. It wasn't for any other reason, but because he truly felt that way. He also is persistent in helping her find ways to accomplish the three tasks. Especially in the end when he knows how close she is to giving birth and still at her request makes the drive to Canada. I like how he stands up for her in the end, and doesn't allow the Elfin Knight to "win". Lucy also proves her love for Zach by allowing him access to her innermost feelings. He is her childhood friend and her confidant. She can tell him anything and not be ashamed. She knows the sacrifice he is making by marrying her at such a young age and putting his life "on hold". She is thankful and appreciative of his unconditional love. Just finished Impossible. I liked it, but didn't love it. Lucy was a likable character and I love her and Zach as a married couple. I just was not into the whole family curse thing. I think it was creative and ingenious of Werlin to develop a story based on a ballad. It definitely worked, however I think the target audience being young adult is better suited for this book. If I were a 15 year old girl I probably would have loved every minute of it. I guess ultimately our goal as educators, parents and lovers of books is to get our kids to embrace reading. Impossible is the story of seventeen year-old Lucy Scarborough who is faced with the pressure of having to break a family curse. Generations of the women of her family have given birth at 18 and gone insane afterwards if they don't fulfill three impossible tasks.

At first I was not sure how the story would play out. Given the circumstances of Lucy's extremely caring foster parents. However, as the story evolves we learn about the ancient curse and how Lucy must try to beat the odds by completeing three tasks. With the help of her childhood friend Zach they make a plan to break the curse forever. Sweet, romantic and charming. All the elements to make a young adult reader fall in love with reading.
