Maybe I should have started with the first book in this series, but starting with this book I just couldn't get into it. I wasn't getting into the characters, the story, or the writing style. I stopped ready after about 100 pages.

I loved the beginning of the book--it grabbed my interest and was beautifully written but I slowly lost my interest as I got to the middle. I enjoyed how it was set in Haiti.
