The book was a little disappointing. It was more basic than I had hoped for. I highlighted very little in this book.

God of Promise by Michael S. Horton
Rate this book
Clear rating
I really enjoyed Horton's book. I would prefer more scripture and less quotes from other people and back and forth of what different people hold; however, his historical analysis of the covenants was very beneficial.

Berkhof's a summary of Christian doctrine was too short for what he was trying to do. There are good questions so possibly using it with a group to go through would be beneficial. It was my first exposure to Berkhof, and I like his style of writting. ...more

Piper was his usual devotional self, good or bad. I was greatly encouraged by the book and found it to be helpful. His analysis of spiritual depression: its causes and cures is refreshing. I would suggest this book to all believers.

Interesting commentary on the book of Revelation from a idealism point of view, which I did not know even existed. More study is needed on my part on eschatology. The book as a whole was informative, I would suggest it, but not phenomenal.
