This books only rates an okay because it was a bit on the boring side for me. It read like Dan Brown just opened up his template from the last few books and plugged in some new words. Mad Libs, the novel. "Langdon finds himself on a flight to ______ (name of famous city). His old mentor/friend/colleague ____________ (name of man) needs his help. The evil villain _________ (name of man) who likes to _______________ (verb meaning body modification) has almost all the information he needs to destroy ________ (name of place). Langdon, professor who doesn't understand his fame, can understand messages left in code/symbols/riddle/metaphor, and save the day."

After a while, I felt like I had already read this book. Not terrible, not fantastic. I also had trouble buying into the secrecy of the Masons given their recent radio marketing campaign and open houses. (less)

This was an intense book. It was similar in nature to the Vince Flynn books. I loved the little plot twists and turns. Some were expected and pretty obvious, others were quite a surprise. The ending leaves you hanging like there will be a sequel to it. I certainly hope there is one!

Parts of this made me laugh, others did not. I like George Carlin, but at times find him too abrasive with the crude humor. I love the plays on the English language and the attacks on the soft language of today. Overall, the humor is there, (I listened to the audiobook) but it seems very disjointed, more like ramblings rather than coherent thought.

Being from Montana, it was fun to listen to a book that had places I knew very well featured in the story. It was also humorous to note the fictitious places and the places that were fictitious but based on a real place. It was also fun to recognize some of the main fictitious characters who happened to have similar stories as major "players" in Montana. As with most business dealings in Montana, there are alliances and deceptions woven together at high levels, making the real story difficult to figure out.

Oh yea, not every Montanan carries or owns a gun! Although hunting is almost a religion there.
