I usually like Charles Dickens. (A Tale of Two Cities is one of my favorite books.) But this book was a big disappointment. I found the characters unlikeable, and too ridiculous for everyday life. I think they exaggerated their emotions, and didn't transition well from one stage to the next. The imagery and descriptions however were beautifully done, and carried their significance well.
