I wish that the author and her editor would have taken some more time with this book. It was very rushed and could have used with some good editing. Half of it moved very slowly. The last half was way too rushed. That said, it was very fun to read. Not my style at all (hard core fantasy stuff), but I really enjoyed it. It took me a while to get into the character, but once I did I sped through. I grabbed this from the library when I saw it on the shelves. I have such happy memories of watching the Disney movie version at both of my grandparents. I found the book even more delightful, with the character of Pollyanna a little more endearing, less syrup-y. This book was a sweet suprise. I thought it would be really cheesy and dumb and I ended up loving it! It goes through many issues in a thoughtful, nontrashy way - teenage pregnancy & choices, can you love a parent that has deserted you in your childhood, what it takes to find inner peace when all is going badly. My only problem with it was that sometimes it moved incredibly slowly.
