My three star rating is probably due to my interest in medieval cathedrals and their construction. This book was great in this sense. You come away with an understanding of the role of crafts people in various trades and how huge an undertaking building a cathedral truly is. That being said, what turned me off completely was the gratuitous sex (including rape and violence) that was peppered throughout at almost equal intervals. I'm afraid I'm going to go against the masses yet again. I found this book to be rather silly. Find a puzzle, answer lands in lap, solve puzzle, repeat. It was to simple, too much like junk food.

For a great book that pulls you into secret societies in a smart way, read Foucault's Pendulum, by Umberto Eco. Genius. ]]>
