Laini Taylor is an excellent writer and this trilogy is very creative. I love the world and characters she's built. However, for this book in particular I wanted more. More about the Stelians. More of the love story. Just more.
Roomies by Sara Zarr
"I liked Roomies more than I thought I would because of the epistolary technique used to tell the story. Elizabeth "E.B." Logan from New Jersey and Lauren Cole from San Francisco get emails telling them they will be roommates for their freshman yea..." Read more of this review »

Desirai shared a quote
The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg
“Once you understand that habits can change, you have the freedom and the responsibility to remake them. Once you understand that habits can be rebuilt, the power of habit becomes easier to grasp, and the only option left is to get to work.”
Charles Duhigg

Elizabeth Gilbert
“Your emotions are the slaves to your thoughts, and you are the slave to your emotions.”
Elizabeth Gilbert, Eat Pray Love: One Woman's Search for Everything Across Italy, India and Indonesia

Viktor E. Frankl
“Don't aim at success. The more you aim at it and make it a target, the more you are going to miss it. For success, like happiness, cannot be pursued; it must ensue, and it only does so as the unintended side effect of one's personal dedication to a cause greater than oneself or as the by-product of one's surrender to a person other than oneself. Happiness must happen, and the same holds for success: you have to let it happen by not caring about it. I want you to listen to what your conscience commands you to do and go on to carry it out to the best of your knowledge. Then you will live to see that in the long-run—in the long-run, I say!—success will follow you precisely because you had forgotten to think about it”
Viktor E. Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning

Diana Gabaldon
“I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have.”
Diana Gabaldon, Outlander

Elizabeth Gilbert
“You’re wishin’ too much, baby. You gotta stop wearing your wishbone where your backbone oughtta be.”
Elizabeth Gilbert, Eat, Pray, Love

Elizabeth Gilbert
“Happiness is the consequence of personal effort. You fight for it, strive for it, insist upon it, and sometimes even travel around the world looking for it. You have to participate relentlessly in the manifestations of your own blessings. And once you have achieved a state of happiness, you must never become lax about maintaining it. You must make a mighty effort to keep swimming upward into that happiness forever, to stay afloat on top of it.”
Elizabeth Gilbert, Eat, Pray, Love
