Yet another "classic" which I hadn't gotten around to reading. Ever since my graduate YA lit class, I find myself needing to pick up the most recommended of YA books. This one was brutal and fantastical and pretty original and I enjoyed it. However, I really loved Hoot better. ]]>

Another classic I never read. I didn't think I was going to get through it because the beginning is a muddled drag. However, it's only a 100 pages and begins to move fast to a surprising climax and a heart-stopping conclusion. ]]>

Never read this for school, thought I should.
While it was better, more original voice, then some of the YA prattle I have been reading . . .the only way I related to this book was that I was a teen once, a privileged teen going through an existential crisis which I thought those with a sordid past were more deserving of. However. Holden talked a lot about phonies, and I couldn't help but think, well look at you there ya BIG PHONY PROTAGONIST. Also the most endearing part of the novel was Holden's relationship with his sister.
PS what the hell was going on in the last few pages? ]]>

A mix of Harry Potter and L.J. Smith with a dash of sexy. I enjoyed it. Better written than Twilight, sometimes sexy and sometimes even scary. However, some things that bothered me:
writing was too conversational at points
And too many things were introduced AND resolved in one book. It is obvious as you are reading that this book is meant to belong in a series, so, several things that were resolved could have been extended into other books. The main character rebels against her parents, starts a new life, finds a place to belong in her new life, discovers her destiny, defeats the bad guy, AND gets the boy in one (short) book. ]]>

I rented a bunch of books from my sister when I went home for Thanksgiving. As usual, Chuck was brutally honest, suprising, and twisted. ]]>

Well, I love Matheson, but this book was a huge disapointment. Action packed sure, but superficial with characters I did not care about and a plot that felt generic to the action movie. ]]>
