the echoes arrive at 3:32 am every night their haunting begins at this time first a knock from behind the door then a shake then a rumble and with every quake comes a shudder and those shudders dance down my shoulders rippling notes along my veins tearing through my fingertips beckoning me to conduct last night's leftover symphony so when i close my eyes it sounds like frankenstein making love to violin strings this vibrato washing through me like a clockwork tide moving me into a soft hypnosis leaving me shaken but not terrified and every piece of me that i have dropped i attempt to put back together dare i say fit you in
but
my liver is broken and no matter how many times i empty them my hands are always full my clock ticks like a hammer to one on a wall that carries more secrets than it longs to my records sing songs of madness driving priests into angst and conspiring sinners to walk on water my innocence left adulterated stained on sheets that screamed lust over romance and all this-- all this i crown my playground of reality my sentiments pushed on swings and my convictions kited over a field of daisies because even on the sunny days the wind cries mary
there is a fountain in the heart of little tokyo our wishes floating along its edge i should have told you then that spaceships never existed that blue is more of a feeling than it is a color and that sorrow sounds like pinnochio's theme i should have asked you if you think God is what makes the world spin and if you think He spins too fast or too slow but instead i said nothing and traced the grooves in your hands hoping you would understand the deepness i was treading
