While this book may stir up more questions than it answers, it does a good job of introducing and defending a broad range arguments in defense of free market capitalism. A good beginner book for understanding some of these concepts. ]]>

If you want to know the truth behind what has happened to our economy, read this book. Tom Woods explains in terms anyone can understand, how the federal reserve's manipulation of interest rates and artificial credit expansion are responsible for the mess we find ourselves in. This book was a breath of fresh air, and I recommend it to everyone. ]]>
An "embezzler," is defined by Webster's as "one who appropriates fraudulently to one's own use what is entrusted to one's care and management." Our system of fractional reserve banking, whereby bankers create counterfeit deposit receipts without sufficient reserves to back them, is inherently fraudulent. Our government protects the monopoly power of the federal reserve to regulate our money supply and sanctions bank counterfeiting and embezzling, and we are are all so used to the way the system works that we don't even question whether it is morally defensible.
Parts of this book were pretty interesting, but a big chunk in the middle gets extremely dry by going into the intricate details of various players who helped implement the federal reserve system and their connections to powerful banking interests. I thought this was unnecessarily distracting from Rothbard's main point, and could have been cleaned up to make this more readable. ]]>
Read this book and understand how to protect yourself from the impending US economic catastrophe. I heart Peter Schiff. ]]>
