Let me start by saying that I got about 200 pages in and then started skimming to the end to find out what happened. Why I bothered I don't really know because at that point I really didn't care.

I found the idea behind the book really intriguing and

I liked this book because it wasn't all sentimental and weepy. While I often didn't like Greg, the narrator, he seemed like a realistic teenage boy to me. Good read for teens, especially boys.

Charming, like they all are. I wondered how the author was going to handle the fact that her characters were growing up. She did a wonderful job with focusing primarily on Batty while still touching on the other characters. I really like that the cha ...more

I didn't know much about Russian history, so I was excited to stumble upon this well written account of the last of the Romanovs. I thought that the author hit the right balance of details without being so detailed that it bogs down the inherently in ...more

I have to admit that I picked this one up because I loved the cover art. I was rewarded in this case for my snap judgment on worth based on looks. This novel-in-verse was well worth reading. The characters and what they went through held my interest ...more

Wonderful book about handling grief. I think that many kids would relate to Suzy's need to find a reason, or something to blame, for her friend's death. Suzy is an interesting, rather awkward kid who you really feel for as the book goes on. I got so ...more

Sweet and funny read about a Jacques, who has just realized he is an imaginary friend. Fun read, but not for those kids who need a lot of action. I loved his character and enjoyed my time spent reading this book.

I'm not usually into the manga style, but this one looked interesting. It was well worth reading. Shoko is almost too nice to be real, but I thought that Shoya was a relatable character.

This is a great middle grade book. It was thoughtful and haunting, but also exciting at times. I loved the realistic characters and the believable ways that they reacted to things. An excellent Fall read.

Robert Frost
“The Road Not Taken

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.”
Robert Frost
