Excellent chronology of history of Indian cricket. Learned that the Indian Parsis were the first to start playing cricket in India. It was a move by the parsis to stay close to the colonial rulers , the Brits. Was amazed to read that the quadrangular tournament among teams drawn on the communal lines (brits, parsis, hindus, muslims) was a hit for decades although it was abhored by the politicians fighting the battle for independence. The book chronicles the story of Balu, a dalit swashbuckling star cricketer, is pretty contextual in the "reserved" india of today. ...less
