Nevertheless it was a brilliantly written book which made some aspects of complex science understandable and interesting.

There was an area of science to appeal to most readers and you could feel the enthusiasm of Bill Bryson coming through the pages. He asked many of the questions I would have asked which may be obvious to the expert but not to the masses.

This is certainly a book I would keep on my shelves for both an interesting read and reference. I do hope that it gets updated at some point.(less) "
