<about>One morning in 1995, I woke up after attending a meditation retreat. I had no idea that I would be writing full time after that day. I had an amazing experience. I felt like a bolt of lightning struck me in my right temple and passed through my head, leaving a light show and the plot of a book behind.

I started writing. Thirteen years later, I have drafts of maybe 12 or 13 books. Two have been published. A world has grown inside me, flowed out my fingertips, and landed on paper. I hope you enjoy Numenon and Stepping Off the Edge. Stepping is a book about spiritual practice for modern people.

Numenon is about the collision of the richest man in the world with a great Native American shaman. People have called it "Dances with Wolves" meets "Wallstreet" with some Stephen King thrown in.

Numenon is the first book of the Bloodsong Series. The sequel is in production and tells what happens after the rich guy and shaman meet. It's where the rubber meets the road, with a cast of thousands.

When I wrote the Bloodsong Series, I thought that was it, I was done. "Thank you, God, that was really fun. I'll spend the rest of my life published and promoting these works."

That isn't how spirit works. Spirit is bountiful, filling your cup, your hard drive, and your flash drive. For me, everything turns into writing.

Last October, my younger brother died. I was grief-stricken. In January, I woke up inside a character––an angelic creature. Shortly afterward, the book that went with that character came to me. My grief prompted The Angel & the Brown Eyed Boy. It's highbrow sci-fi. (If you've got Numenon, the first chapter of the Angel is printed in the back.)

I love to write and intend to spend the rest of my life doing it. Deepest desire is to connect with my readers and touch their souls. I want to establish a community.

</about>

Hello everyone! I'm Sandy Nathan, based on a ranch out West near Santa Barbara CA. I must thank Rick for getting me back posting something on Goodreads.

That said, I must confess that I'm terrible at keeping up with on line stuff and responding to messages. I will not give you my on-line addiction speech here, though I write about it fully in my Stepping Off the Edge. Stepping is a memoir/how to/spiritual coaching session with moi as the guinea pig which has won 6 awards in the US. It's a spiritual companion for modern folks, dealing with eBay addiction, infatuation with rock stars, and evil. Sort of like the Twilight Series without vampires.

If you write to me and I don't respond, it's me, not you. I will stop in from time to time. I'm charging ahead on a couple of projects. One is the sequel to my book Numenon. Dubbed "Bill Gates meets Don Juan" by a reviewer, Numenon tells what happens when the richest man in the world meets a great Native American shaman. Numo, as we call it around here, won the Silver Nautilus Award for Bicultural/Indigenous fiction. (Plus five other national awards in visionary, religious, and bicultural fiction.) I like to mention the Nautilus, because it rewards distinguished books dedicated to raising consciousness and green living. His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Thich Nhat Hanh, and Barbara Kingsolver are previous winners.

I've experienced the worst writer's block of my life working on Numenon's sequel. The draft is written, but the rewrite may kill me. But! Light is visible. Somewhere.

I've got a blog for writers and authors, Your Shelf Life. Currently, I'm posting a series of articles on Selling Books in the Great Recession. Anybody interested in that? I'm a former economist and present info from that point of view. I've got some terrific on line marketers coming up as guest bloggers.

So long, y'all. If you want to stop by the ranch and get to know me better, try Sandy Nathan's Web Site
