To see a childhood hero continue to be a hero as an adult is very empowering. I grew up wanting to be Princess Leia. I was young enough that I didn't see the bronze bikini as an issue, all I saw was a BAMF who put herself on the line to rescue the lo ...more

Cute story. I felt like I was reading a book from Sheldon Cooper's point of view.

Anyone who loves the original Star Wars trilogy will love this. Seeing the events from the movies through different points of view was fascinating!

Loved this one!! I've never been a fan of Snow White, but I loved this retelling. Making Snow White a badass heroine makes the story so much better! Plus, a very swoon-worthy hero makes it even better :)

I picked this book up after I watched the movie trailer. I could tell from the trailer and the book description that it was going to make me cry. And I was right. I ugly cried through the end. It was so worth it though!

“Hopefully as you get older, you start to learn how to live with your demon. It’s hard at first. Some people give their demon so much room that there is no space in their head or bed for love. They feed their demon and it gets really strong and then it makes them stay in abusive relationships or starve their beautiful bodies. But sometimes, you get a little older and get a little bored of the demon. Through good therapy and friends and self-love you can practice treating the demon like a hacky, annoying cousin. Maybe a day even comes when you are getting dressed for a fancy event and it whispers, “You aren’t pretty,” and you go, “I know, I know, now let me find my earrings.” Sometimes you say, “Demon, I promise you I will let you remind me of my ugliness, but right now I am having hot sex so I will check in later.”

“Work hard, know your shit, show your shit, and then feel entitled. Listen to no one except the two smartest and kindest adults you know, and that doesn't always mean your parents. If you do that, you will be fine.”
Mindy Kaling, Why Not Me?

“People's reaction to me is sometimes "Uch, I just don't like her. I hate how she thinks she is so great." But it's not that I think I'm so great. I just don't hate myself. I do idiotic things all the time and I say crazy stuff I regret, but I don't let everything traumatize me. And the scary thing I have noticed is that some people really feel uncomfortable around women who don't hate themselves. So that's why you need to be a little bit brave.”
