This was just as good as the first book. What a ride! I literally could not put it down. I read it within 24 hours. I just had to know what was going to happen next. There is so much that needs to be resolved and it's not just trivial stuff...it's life or death! I enjoyed getting lost in the world of a heroine whose shoes I would never want to fill. It's a balance somewhere between totally stressing out and having so much fun...I do tend to get pretty involved. The storyline is riveting. It's a bit of Lord of the Flies with a hint of romance. The human instinct for survival can be counted on, but the human need for freedom is highly underestimated. I just finished the sequel (in 24 hours!) and you are going to LOVE it. Man, this storyline is good. I keep feeling like I'm in the arena. What would I do in her shoes? Will humanity ever really come to this cruel existence? Have we already on some level? I just torture myself with books that me think too hard. This book is highly entertaining. I know, I know, it's a book about punctuation and apostrophes and such. How can it be anything but boring? As a proofreader, we read this book to keep our skills sharp and I was pleasantly surprised to find it was so fun. Probably because I had a few things in common with the author, like assigning myself the keeper of correct grammar by taking a pen to menus, advertisements, etc. that were littered with errors. Not that I'm perfect at it, but I'm trying :) ]]>
