I was disappointed. I was feeling "emo" so I was looking for some light, feel-good read and I had hoped Nicholas Sparks would "spark" some for me in this book, but he hadn't. I was looking forward to crying and being sentimental, the way his other novels made me cry before but instead I couldn't help commenting how stupid and how shallow the story and the characters were. I couldn't get into Logan Thibault's character. I couldn't sympathize much with Beth's struggles. I couldn't muster enough emotion to hate Keith Clayton. The only thing I liked much about the story was Zeus. A few chapter towards the ending I was hoping for some catch-in-the-breath action or maybe a delightful twist, to redeem the sloppiness of the book, but there was none.
I should have bought Dear John instead. ]]>

My very first Bob Ong book and I find it just okay. Maybe I expected too much or maybe I just picked up the wrong book for a first timer like me. But this doesn't mean I won't read his other works. Reading Stainless Longganisa on the contrary has made me curious about his other books especially the ones he wrote before Stainless.
In Stainless Longganisa , Bob Ong talks, about writing, books, and his "rise" to stardom as a writer. His anecdotes were witty and funny but reading some of his quips on tags rampant in Facebook before I get to read the book somewhat already stole the humor. A quick read, finished it after 2 hours. ]]>
