bookshelves: dropped
I lost interest in this and returned it to the library. The style is just not my cup of tea; too literary. There are some literary books that I read because the story is strong enough for me to keep turning the page; but for this one I didn't feel that.
An aside. I think part of what turns me off is that I the book falls neatly into what I think of as WASP-lit. I find it hard to relate to. I prefer the other end of the spectrum -- stories of outsiders and misfits. ]]>

Borrowed this because it is a time-travel romance.
I don't know if I'll finish it. It's barely chapter two and the Hero has dropped the Heroine in a horrible dungeon intending to burn her as a witch, and changed his mind and fished her out, noting that she now has a broken wrist. That she is going to fall in love with him is rather sickening. ]]>

Very romantic in a rather serious way. I love the Duchess, and the epilogue, and Bunter for once losing his cool over the port. ]]>
