          <body><![CDATA[Academic rigor is not the grounds on which to judge this book.  Better to see it as the background to a lot of post-modern writing, particularly Umberto Eco, who must have written Foucault's Pendulum, The Name of the Rose, and The Island of the Day Before, with this open on the desk beside him.<br/><br/>I find the book to be a difficult to follow source of inspiring image after image.<br/>]]></body>

          <body><![CDATA[This is one of my most favorite books and a &quot;modern classic&quot;.  Like many great works (since Hamlet, maybe), it oscillates back and forth between almost academic rigor and full blooded madness with only the seams intended by the author.
