My favorite of Vidal's histories. He's a brilliant American character, more-so because his individual nature - that which makes him so American - is also what makes others despise him.

And like everything Vidal writes, it is just such a funny, interesting, engaging read. He is such a fun character to spend time with. (Certainly a lot more than Lincoln was.) ]]>
