One CD in...really intrigued by the story and it's characters. YA
I really like this book...and the main characters are BOYS for a change. A little otherworldly. Great historical connection ...In addition, good audio "read" too..except, the reader is not so great at young female voices. Thankfully, Margaret is the only one that appears regularly. ]]>

So many times I got really close to REALLY liking this book. It's all over the place, which I understand the author was (all over the place) at the time. HOWEVER, even though it may make me sound like a prude (of which I can be) the use of "fuck" throughout the book is as distracting as "like, ya know" with teenagers. It sometimes makes the point thoroughly and impossibly lost. If Julie Powell writes another book, I will be interested. She is clearly intelligent and humorous. Haven't seen the movie...but for the first time ever I will say this, "I bet the movie is better than the book." ]]>

I am giving this 4 stars...not for like...because there are next to zero! characters to LIKE in this book. However! it makes for great discussion is accurate historical fiction, which makes it all the more unbelievable. I'm seething...enough said. ]]>
