What I don't like is Bella's personality in this book (or in New Moon, either). She's so co-dependent and manipulative in Eclipse. I think I would have enjoyed this book so much more had I not fallen off my chair several times from rolling my eyes so hard. It's not that Bella's actions are unbelievable (oh, I think that Meyers has an 18 year old girl who's in love down pat), but I am so annoyed at her inability to look beyond the Edward Future. Sure, she has glimpses of it, especially at the end, but it's always followed by "I'd die without Edward", which is a ridiculous thought.

Honestly, I am reluctant to have this book available for my daughter to read. I certainly won't encourage her to read it, and if I thought it would work, I am sure that I would ban the book from our home. Oh, I am fully aware that one book isn't going to change my daughter's personality... but when there are so many other GOOD heroines to look up to, I would hate to see my kid look up to Bella.

Also, I know that there is no sex in this book, but there is too much tension that I am comfortable with for a YA book. I know that it's not up to the author to censor that stuff because young people might be reading her books... but I am uncomfortable with Bella's demands for sex, knowing that 12 year old girls are reading this series.

I didn't hate this book. I don't mind the writing style, I could definitely identify with Bella in parts (honestly? I'm not an Edward fan. I don't get it. I would NOT chose cold and hard over warm and yielding), and the overall story arc is quite great. I didn't love it, either. I'll definitely read Breaking Dawn, just to see how the series pans out... but I'm not holding my breath (nor am I buying in to the hype that is the Twilight Franchise).(less) "
