I have not been totally enthralled with this series but they have piqued my interest enough to follow it. Noel almost lost my interest altogether with Shadowland.
This book annoyed me. I caught myself rolling my eyes countless of times and putting the book down several more times out of pure irritation. One cause being: what did Noel do with Damen??? He was obnoxious and acted like a 40 yr old man and not like the sexy 17 or 18 yr old(can't remember how old he was "supposed" to be) we seen in the prior two books. I have not been a big fan of Damen in this series to begin with (It bothered me that he flirted with Stacia in the 1st book to get Ever jealous. Then she had to watch him be all over Stacia in Blue Moon because of the spell he was under...but after it was broken and Ever was having a hard time dealing with it, he basically told her "what's done is done...deal with it".). Then Noel changes him and had stripped him of any charm and charisma that he previously possessed. It had me wishing that Ever would leave him.
Another point of provocation was the twins. Can someone please explain to me why the twins needed "parents"??? Why did they act like 13 yr olds...jumping up and down begging their "parents" to be able to keep a kitten? Sure, they look 13 but are actually over 300 yrs old. It seems that it would be safe to assume that they would be even more mature than Ever since she is only a teenager. It drove me crazy that they had to ask permission from Damen to do things...it just didn't add up. I felt like the book jumped from being a story about teenagers to a story about middle aged parents rearing a few teenagers. And I was RELIEVED that Damen pushed Ever away (this is where the story finally picked up)...I was only disappointed when they ended up back "together" in the end.
My only complaint about Ever is that she keeps making big mistakes because she refuses to listen to those around her. As I read of her decisions I couldn't refrain from slapping my head to my forehead, with an audible "doh!"
I was really upset that Haven was turned immortal...I have hated her throughout this series and was hoping she would die off. Apparently that won't be happening now...she just became a major player in this book (or least that's how I see it). Miles is almost as annoying and I hope he stays in Italy in the next book so we don't have to hear from him.
This is the 1st book in the series, in my opinion, that seemed to be reminiscient of Twilight...a poor rendition at that. Damen is all self-sacrificing when it comes to Ever...going to extremes and taking all of the blame, for everything, upon himself. It seemed too much like Edward. Oh and now we have a Jacob...oops I mean Jude. So Damen removes himself from the picture and now we have Jude. Despite the parallels, Jude was what turned this book around for me. Jude is good looking (understated), mysterious, and "strangely familiar". If it wasn't for this turn of events I probably would not have finished the book. I will be cheering for her to end up with Jude in the end because I really dislike Damen.
I was worried about the direction Noel seemed to be going with the twins and parental thing, but thank God she veered away from that eventually! I liked the ending. I like the dilemmas she created...Jude really isn't a rogue immortal afterall. Which means she exposed herself through her unnatural strength and I'm SURE this will be visited in the future. Which means I can hang on to the hope that she will end up with him afterall (even in the face of Damen being her "soulmate")! Now that Haven is immortal maybe the false pretense of frienship that we all recognize will finally be revealed. I'm sure Haven will join forces with Roman and will be yet another thorn in Ever's side. And I would not be surpised if Honor ends up being the much needed girlfriend that Ever is in need of. And of course we have the nagging question of what the result of Ever's attempt at spell-casting was. Very interested in what will happen next.

(less)

This one's hard to choose. I'd definitely eliminate Vampires. I don't want to be anyone's food. It's a toss up between werewolves, other shifters, and angels.

I'm so disappointed in this book. I loved Evermore. What happened? Every book just seems to be going down hill. The characters aren't growing. Your not falling deeper in love with them. Instead they are becoming annoying and blah. I forced myself to finish this book because I had such high hopes for the series.

Ever wasn't the most strongest character I've come across but I liked her in the first book. In Blue Moon she is pathetic and gullible. Now she's down right selfish and juvenile. Aren't characters supposed to grow? My biggest problem in Blue Moon was Ever's strange trust in Roman in the end. She gets duped, and yet in this book she still trusts Roman's word over Damen's?! Roman says he has an antidote, Damen says he's lying and tells Ever to leave him alone. Does she listen to Damen? No she goes to see Roman because she believes Roman.

Damen was mysterious and sexy. He had the whole I-loved-you-for-hundrends-of-years thing going on. He made you swoon in Evermore. In Blue Moon he had you pulling out your hair every time he was with Stacie. Now he is just blah. Just blah. Ever struggles at the beginning with forgiving Damen for cheating with Stacia. Damen tells her it's in the past and to basically get over it. She does. What? First of all this book takes place a few days from when Blue Moon ends. No one can get over the fact that their man was with another the week prior, especially with the way he treated her. This bothers me to no end.

How can you keep a series going about undying love and soulmates when the relationship and the characters have fizzled out? You can't, at least not a good one. Unfortunately I have no interest to continue with this series and I regret buying it in hardback.

This was sweet. The story line was very interesting and kept me reeled in.
As for characters:

I really liked Patch. I had a hard time putting this book down until I figured out Patch's secrets. Nora - a little crazily insane obessed with Patch. It was annoying in the beginning but eventually it let up. Vee - blabber mouth. I'm sure she was supposed to be funny when she ran her mouth, but I just found her annoying.

I knocked off some stars for originality because it had a sense of Twilight. It followed the Twilight outline to close for me to call this story orginal. But, I did love the angel aspect.

******SPOILER********

Twilight and Hush,Hush
-Nora special, Nephilium. Bella special, mind blocking.
-Patch intend to kill Nora at first. Edward wants to suck her blood at first.
-Both Patch and Edward are dark and mysterious.
-Both Patch and Edward have stalker elements.
-Both boys are immortal and fall in love with humans.
-Patch and Nora are Biology partners. (That one is way to similar!)
-There is a bad guy that wants the woman because of the boys' affections towards her. Jules wants to kill Nora. James wants to kill Bella.

Would I recommend? Yes. When there's a mystery that you can't put the book down until figure it out, then I call that a good read. I really liked Twilight so how could I not like this book.

Plot 4
Cover 5
Writing 4
Originality 2
Characters 3
Romance/Chemistry 3
Action:Romance ratio 60:40
Good enough to pick up again 2

It was smooth and catchy...I wouldn't quit until I finished the book
Also loved the story and the idea with fallen angels.
My problem with this book: well I LOVED Patch and I liked Nora BUT I couldn't quite see how in particulat Patch fell in love with Nora! I'm relating to his behavior toward Nora..he did flirt, he was sexing things up but at the same time he was rude and most important of all not protective at all...we'll see bits of it in the end but it didn't convince me. I felt like most of the time he had the whatever attitude.
But anyways I really liked the book and the characters as individuals, loved the plot and the way the story was revealed (less)

This is the second Highlander book I've read. I did not like it as much as the first one I read, Kiss of the Highlander. If you outlined both books, they would be the same. Just different characters and a different set of problems. Because of this I probably won't continue with the series. To much repetition bores me and I can't get into the story line and characters.

Plot 3
Cover 3
Writing 3
Originality 2
Characters 3
Romance/Chemistry 3
Action:Romance ratio 20:80
Good enough to pick up again 1
