Hunter's first book was a fantastic read. He gives an inside perspective of the Hell's Angels at their peak.. in the mid 1960s, as he literally lived with and partied with the Angels for a year before eventually parting ways. He bought and rode a British BSA motorcycle even though this was considered heresy to the Harley-loving Angels. He conveys the disagreement between the way the press viewed the Angels, the way the public viewed the angels, and the way the Angels saw themselves. More importantly he speaks to the way the Angels eventually came to view themselves through the eyes of the Press and the interesting saga of the Angels relationship with the Berkeley protest crowd as well as the Ken Kesey & Allen Ginsberg crowd.Unfortunately Dr. Thompson's face and ribs eventually ended up at the wrong end of their boots towards the end of his relationship with them. He kept the bike. ]]>
