I have four self published books. The only people who treat my books differently are other authors. There are some author groups that won't accept self published authors. However, I was recogized by the League of Utah Writers, and won the Writer of the Year Award.
My books are for children. When I read to schools the teachers and students treat me with respect. My books sell mostly on Amazon.com
Now that I have written my fourth book, What's It Like, Living Green? I am getting all kinds of press, because of the subject matter. The other three books have helped to get my name out there. I sat next to an author of a children's picture book, at a book signing. She had sold 9000 books in 6 months. The books sold for $16.95. She was getting 24 cents per book! She wanted to give up on writting and do something that would make money. From Booksurge Publishing the author keeps 35%. Some authors go through China or Korea to publish their books, and keep a larger share. Which authors have a greater chance at success?
