I think asking for a book shelf is a great idea, but I ALSO think, knowing you, you didn't get rid of as many books as you could have;)

Thank you so much, Chris. I would never have found that, and I literally had chills listening to him speak. Goofy voice and all...he gets me.

I audio-ed this book with occasional glances at the actual pages. It was an interesting story, and I found Zusak's style, especially his way with dialogue, very engaging. There was quite a bit of cursing, but it belonged so perfectly in these characters voices that I really didn't even notice it until I flipped back through the book. Zusak has the gift of including silent moments in his characters conversations as well, and we all know, in real life, there's an awful lot of silence. Not everything is said out loud, and it takes a great writer to walk that very thin line. Zusak did that beautifully.

I was as anxious as Ed for each new card, and actually began to feel a bit mentally deficient as I realized I would not have been able to follow the "clues" without some assistance. Thank goodness Ed got some, even if a few of his helpers seemed members of the brute squad.

I think this book would have rated five stars for me had it ended differently. Until the last few parts, when we find out who has sent Ed on this life changing and affirming "human scavenger hunt" I really thought it was his mother. I wont say who it was, but, obviously not good ol' ma. I was a little confused by the ending and definitely disapointed. Not only would I have been happier had the cards continued, possibly at further spaced intervals, but I felt the ending was a little too happily ever after. This small complaint wasn't enough to taint the pleasure I felt following Ed on his adventures.

I'm looking forward to reading The Book Thief, and am very glad I already own it.
