Watched the movie first and was extremely impressed by the set and actors. I don't care, Brad Pitt and Jamie Afleck are great in this film. So far the book is identical. Jesse James was a very interesting guy. Also the time period is incredible. The folk lore behind the James gang are so interesting and Ron Hansen puts to rest or builds upon them even more. Robert Ford was also a very interesting person. He was smart, young and ambitious. It's taken me a long time to read, but I've never really got too involved. I mostly read it during my commute to work on the NY MTA subway.

Interesting book about a Jewish family in the Islamic Republic of Iran. The father is imprisoned soon after the Revolution for unknown reasons. The son in is NY at the Yeshiva and falls in love with an orthodox Jewish women which brings up issues about his own identity (he's not orthodox). It's worth the time to read even if it's not a perfect story it's interesting on many levels.

The book group at a public library in Harlem loved this book. The writing was fresh. The story was an interwoven history of three generations of African-American women from the same family. It focused on Grace and but described how they dealt with, and were dealing with their circumstances and desires. Love and freedom the absence of both and the desire of both are the themes, though there's a lot of different ideas and pieces of information. The author was controlled and stayed on theme the entire time.
