A few observations....
1. I thought this book did a really great job of exploring both the pros and cons of living without a TV, particularly the social issues. For example, much of the time not having a TV means you don't know what people are talking about when they discuss the latest reality TV show. BUT the book also points out how often talking about TV is a "crutch" of sorts, i.e. "We're all sitting here, slightly uncomfortable with nothing to talk about...ummm, so did you see Survivor last night?"
2. I liked how several of the individual families in the book did not have an "all or nothing" approach. For example, many of the families did not watch commercial TV, but still owned a TV to watch movies or for special events. (Which is pretty close to what we do, so it was nice to see how other people work that out.)
3. It's interesting to me how the "no TV" thing throws together super conservative families ("We don't want our kids seeing smut") with super liberal families ("We don't want our kids being marketed to").
4. The stats/information about brain activity during TV watching--wow!--basically you're better off sleeping!

The technical parts of this book are targeted at the extreme newbie, but even people who have been blogging for awhile will enjoy specific blogs that are featured. It's like a "who's who" of crafty blogs.
