I found the unexpected humor in this book to be refreshing. I enjoyed Dean Koontz's ability to have the characters tease each other in times of severe stress and fear. It showed a new twist to his writing style that I had yet to discover. Dean Koontz is my favorite murder mystery writer. He doesn't disappoint in this book. Even if no one else would like the book, dog lovers should find it worth their time. Even though I'm not done reading this book yet, I am impressed with the story. It's heartbreaking and intriguing at the same time to read the story from the patient's perspective.
